On-the-job training Safe work environment Growth opportunities Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Technicians LDAR technicians work 10-hour shifts from 6:
00 am - 4:
30 pm, typically Monday to Thursday, within the refinery located in Whatcom county.
Overtime opportunities are usually Fridays.
Using a backpack-mounted analyzer (EPA Method 21), LDAR Technicians systematically monitor regulated equipment and piping (e.
g.
, valves, pumps, connectors, etc.
) within the refinery for fugitive VOC/hydrocarbon emissions.
LDAR Technicians:
Identify equipment subject to LDAR requirements and potential leak interfaces (e.
g.
, valve types, flanges, instrumentation systems, pump seals, agitators, and pressure relief devices).
Document leaks and manage their repairs by coordinating with refinery and/or contract personnel to ensure repairs are conducted within required time limits.
Work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
Work at heights.
Climb tower ladders 100
ft, ascending/descending stairs up to ten flights or more.
Bend, stretch, walk and climb with a 30
lb backpack - up to 10 hours a day on concrete and/or steel surfaces.
Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot numerous analyzers.
Use software such as the leak database, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel to interface and work with various refinery departments including Environmental, Health and Safety, and other contractor maintenance coordinators and planners.
Have good oral and written communications skills.
Potentially be trained in the operation of aerial lifts.
Technicians are expected to continue to increase/expand their LDAR knowledge and skill level while maintaining competency in all previous areas of training.
Over time, technicians will gain a working knowledge of Federal, State, refinery, and STS regulations and policies in managing all aspects of the LDAR program.
Technicians must be ready to work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
They will be expected to collaborate with other team members and refinery personnel.
They will be expected to mentor newer technicians in all aspects of the job.
A pre-employment background check and drug test are required.
On-going random drug tests are conducted.
Applicants must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Because the nature of our business is customer service, technicians will be expected to maintain a professional image.
