Job Description:
Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage, is seeking a Mechanic II to join our team. This position will perform preventive maintenance on installed equipment following established procedures. Will troubleshoot failures and make necessary repairs. Recommend additional preventive measures to ensure all machines operate at highest efficiency. Practice a high level of business ethics, professionalism, safety and quality in all activities in accordance with Samson strategy and core values. This is a swing shift position.
  • Perform preventive inspections and maintenance in assigned area(s). Make recommendations to the maintenance supervisor any need for repair or replacement of equipment.
  • Perform corrective maintenance in assigned area(s).
  • Follow COGZ system and complete required paperwork.
  • Ensure work area is clean and maintained complying with 5S programs. Participate in process improvement programs (i.e., lean).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be directed.

Experience and Skills:
Required: Basic reading comprehension, writing, and arithmetic skills required with a working knowledge of percentages and fractions. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Desired: Technical School or equivalent experience
Required: Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment performing preventive and corrective maintenance - OR - Technical certification within a relevant discipline.
Desired: Previous electrical or machinist experience
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to weld, machine parts, or complete electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to understand and safely operate power tools and machinery.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and build relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and to take verbal direction
  • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Windows and Internet
  • Ability to gather, record and report on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
